Quick start
- Use iOS 26 or newer. Use iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone Air, any iPhone 16 model, or later. Enable Apple Intelligence.
- Open Karui and follow the in-app setup wizard. It guides you through enabling the necessary permissions, configuring a Focus mode, and adding and configuring the standard Karui Shortcut.
- Open the standard Karui Shortcut if you need to add it again.
Important notifications produce a Karui notification. Neutral and spam notifications stay quiet.
Troubleshooting
No Karui notification appears
- Confirm Karui notifications are enabled and allowed by the active Focus.
- Open the Shortcuts app on your phone and open the Karui Shortcut and make sure the apps you use are included.
- Remember that neutral or spam notifications intentionally stay quiet. You can review them in Karui’s History, or adjust Karui Settings to be less restrictive.
I still see spam notifications
- Make sure the app producing the spam notifications is silenced in your Focus mode.
- Try adding more VIP contacts in Karui Settings.
- Adjust the Urgent, Neutral, and Spam terms in Karui Settings.
- Give Karui access to your calendar. Your calendar events stay private and do not leave your device.
Requirements and limitations
- Requires iOS 26 or newer and Apple Intelligence. Supported models are iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone Air, all iPhone 16 models, or later. For the best experience, use iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, iPhone Air, or later, which support Apple’s more capable on-device model.
- You must add the default Karui Shortcut during Karui setup. If you use apps beyond the standard ones, add those apps to the Shortcut.
- Tapping a replacement notification only opens the source app, not the exact message. When you need to jump to the notification’s precise destination, open the original notification.
- Classification is assistance, not a guarantee. Review Notification Center and Karui’s History when something may have been missed.
